The Baptism of The Holy Spirit

Acts 2: 1–4; 12–17.
Joel 2: 28–32.
Matthew 3:11 – "...He (Jesus) shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire." (John the Baptist, speaking about Jesus). Jesus is the Baptizer in the Holy Spirit.

THE ADVANTAGES OF PRAYING IN TONGUES

  1. Builds Our Faith (Jude #20) (I Cor. 14:4a)
  2. Helps Our Infirmities (Ro. 8:26 & 27)
  3. Gives Us Power and Boldness (Acts 1:8a; Acts 4:31; Acts 4:13)
  4. Helps Us To Witness About Jesus (Acts 1:8b)
  5. Helps Our Prayer Life (I Cor. 14:2; 14 & 15)
(satan doesn’t know what we are praying)
  6. Helps Us To Be Happier and More Thankful (Eph. 5:18–20; Acts 10:46)
  7. We Can Prophesy To Ourselves (Acts 19:6)
  8. Makes Us More Sensitive To The Spirit World (Acts 2:43 – ‘fear’ = reverence for God)

Note: The Baptism Of The Holy Spirit Keeps Us Walking In The Spirit. (Galatians 5:16 – "...walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh". See also Gal. 5:25)

There is a difference between praying in tongues in our own personal prayer life to God and having the gift of tongues for public use.
1 Corinthians chapter 14 explains the difference between public and private tongues. These sermon notes are specifically teaching on private tongues, called The Baptism Of The Holy Spirit.
